I want to comment on a segment of the recent debate on H-1B between Norm
Matloff and immigration attorney Kirsten Schlenger.

I doubt I need to introduce Dr. Norm Matloff to anybody on this list, but
just in case, his homepage is at:

His Debunking paper is what introduced me to the H-1B issue. I had an
epiphany after reading it that changed my entire view of the career of my
chosen career of software engineering. It's a classic that should be read
by anyone on this list that is in a technical or science field or is
studying to be:

At about (26:00) Schlenger was asked about Americans who are forced to
train their foreign replacements. Schlenger tried to minimize the issue by
saying the practice isn't widespread and that the evidence of this
happening was anecdotal. Matloff fired back by using Bank of America and
Siemens as examples where this has occurred.

The practice of forcing Americans to train their foreign replacements may
be anecdotal, but it's very real, widespread, and well documented. The
reason the links for "Stolen Jobs Parts 1 and 2" are included above is
because the videos are a news documentary that shows what happened at
Siemens. As Matloff explained in the debate there are so many loopholes in
the H-1B law that replacing Americans and undercutting salaries is very
easy to do legally.

The "Stolen Jobs" video has a segment showing a written admission by
Siemens that they were forcing their U.S. employees to train foreign
replacements who were imported by using L-1 visas. Since that news report
was aired in Florida there have been no legal actions taken against
Siemens. Unfortunately the regulations on H-1B and L-1 visas allows this
type of despotic corporate behavior.
