Today I put a video online about worldwide unemployment caused by outsourcing. To watch it go to the following page and scroll down until you see a 2004 video called "Worldwide Unemployment".

Viewing the video might seem free when you click the link, but it costs me very real money to provide it online. I offer it free as a public service even though it will cost about $15 a month to host it online.

This website is run on a shoestring budget so all donations help, no matter how small.

Videos by their very nature are expensive to put online because of the enormous sizes of the files and the large bandwidth requirements. Digital videos are time-intensive to prepare and special hardware is necessary to make it all happen.

I have been working on this video project part-time for months! To make a digital copy of this video that I could use on the web I had to convert the analog video from a VHS tape to a digital file. The toughest part of the job was getting an English translation and then adding the subtitles, Many steps have to be completed and hours of computer processing time are required to prepare the product that you watch.

The web hosting service charges $5 per 50 MB of extra storage. I pay for a server because unlike home web servers this one can handle the bandwidth even with many simultaneous users and it has streaming media capabilities.
