The Mike Emmons interview on the Lou Dobbs show has been cancelled. I
just talked to Mike via telephone and confirmed the bad news.
Mike was notified that they don't want to discuss Siemens because it's
a German company and they want to focus on American companies. Since
Siemens is no more or less American than any other of the
multi-nationals that are operating in the U.S., CNN's rationale is
dubious.
Mike explained to CNN that he doesn't have to talk about Siemens
because they are just one part of the bigger picture. Mike told them
that the real problem is in Washington DC so he wants to talk about
Congress and what they have done to subsidize corporations.
CNN didn't mention Siemens or Tata Consulting to Emmons on Wednesday so
their rationale is especially puzzling.
CNN is now leaving us to speculate on why Mike wasn't allowed on their
show after all of this buildup. They featured Emmons in a short segment
this week so it's not clear what the real reason is for the
cancellation. My guess, and this is not the necessarily the opinion of
Emmons or anybody else, is that Siemens called CNN and told them to
cease and desist. CNN ran scared and complied.
The Emmons blackout is casting a dark shadow on what has been an
excellent series on CNN. If you want to communicate with CNN to voice
