H-1B and JOB DESTRUCTION NEWSLETTER

I will send Turner my previous newsletter in addition to this one. New
Jersey residents may also want to contact her office to ask why she
feels it's so important to allow H-1Bs and L-1s to hold jobs when there
are so many unemployed technical workers there.

Notice in the clip below it specifically allows H-1Bs and L-1s to work
on state contracts.

The email below was sent by Anthony Mc Cann.

Unfortunately this had to go down to the "State" level legislature. It
passed 40-0. I spoke with Shirley Turner's assistant yesterday and he
said
that the bill is now awaiting the assembly's approval before it can be
signed into law by the Governor of N.J.. I also heard that India is
beefing
up their groups over here so as not to have this spread to other
states.
Turner's office is 609-530-3277, her email is : senturner@njleg.org.
India, Corporations and our so called "Elected Officials" seem to be
blocking any news from filtering down to the american public. So far
here
is the latest, so please pass this on and give Sen. Turner's office a
call
and show her all our support no matter what state your from.

US BPO bill may spell trouble for Indian IT

NDTV Correspondent

Monday, December 23, 2002 (Trenton):

Business Process Outsourcing, the trump card for India's IT sector, may
be in trouble if a proposed legislation in the US becomes law.

The New Jersey state senate has passed a bill, which prevents any local
government organisation from outsourcing call centre or transaction
processing work to anywhere in the world directly or indirectly.

However, those foreigners holding H-1B visa to the USA will be allowed
to work on such projects.

Though the bill has been passed, it's yet to be made a law. Moreover,
hardly any business comes to India from New Jersey.

But if this bill - which was passed unanimously 46 to 0 - becomes a law
it could have a cascading impact on other states as well, some of which
are responsible for giving India up to 60 per cent of its export
business.
